Saumyananda Sahi
Saumyananda Sahi has worked on a diverse array of projects over the past decade, collaborating with filmmakers such as Vikramaditya Motwane, Kamal Swaroop, Shaunak Sen, and Prateek Vats. His work has been showcased at prestigious film festivals around the world, including Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, Rotterdam, Locarno, Busan, Toronto, Hot Docs (Canada) and IDFA (Holland). He was nominated for an Asia Pacific Award (Balekempa, 2018), a 2021 Filmfare Award, and, more recently, a 2023 Critics Choice Award for Best Cinematography.

– Sahi’s recent projects as a DOP include the Netflix originals “Trial by Fire” and Vikramaditya Motwane’s “Black Warrant”.
– Saumyananda has also worked on critically acclaimed films such as the Berlin International Film Festival winner “Eeb Allay Ooo!” and “Nasir”, directed by Arun Karthick, to name a few.
– He has also shot the National Award-winning documentary “Rangbhoomi”, the Academy Award nominee “All That Breathes”, and “Sacred”, among many others.
Awards and Recognition-
– Selected as one of the ten participants of BAFTA’s Breathrough India programme.
– ‘All That Breathes’ (nominated for both a BAFTA as well as an Academy Award, and winner of the ASC Award for Best Documentary) and the Netflix
limited series ‘Trial By Fire’, which opened to rave reviews and is presently the only Indian show on IMDb’s Top 100 list.
– 2023 Critics Choice Award for Best Cinematography.
